Please be advised that the ongoing essential maintenance work at two gantries located on the M90 Junction 10, outlined in the release below, requires an overnight closure of  the northbound carriageway for a short period on Thursday night to allow teams to safety install a temporary barrier.

OVERNIGHT ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE WORKS PLANNED ON M90 JUNCTION 10 GANTRIES

Project to start Sunday 15 November for five weeks

Essential maintenance improvements at two gantries located on the M90 Junction 10 northbound are set to get underway from Sunday for five weeks.

The project will involve teams removing the existing road safety barriers on the M90 northbound verges and central reserve and replacing them with an upgraded system, ensuring the gantries remain protected for years to come.

The overnight maintenance project is scheduled to begin on Sunday 15 November and is programmed to take place between 7.30pm and 5.30am daily over five weeks.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, a series of lane closures will be in place during working hours. A single lane closure of the northbound carriageway and a hard shoulder closure will be required when teams are upgrading the road safety barriers in the verges approaching the gantry. A single lane closure will also be required on both the northbound and southbound carriageways when improvements take place in the central reserve, road users may be directed onto the hard shoulder during the placement of sections of the new barrier system.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe at all times.

Commenting on the works, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative said: “This maintenance project on the network will help ensure the gantries over the M90 located at Junction 10 remain protected, ensuring the North East network continues to function safely for road users.

“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the project, including carrying out the works overnight helping limit the impact to road users.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential maintenance works on the M90. We encourage road users to plan their journey in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
