£180,000 OVERNIGHT RESURFACING IMPROVEMENTS FOR A9 NEAR NEWTONMORE

August 13, 2021

Works begin Sunday 29 August for five nights.

Overnight surfacing improvements worth £180,000 are set to get underway on a section of the A9 near Newtonmore later this month.

The project will improve around a mile of the A9 at Nuidhe and will include works on the northbound single lane and southbound two-lane carriageway, creating a smoother and safer journey for road users of this section of the A9.

The works are set to take place from Sunday 29 August for five nights, between 8pm and 6am each night.

To protect roadworkers as well as road users, an overnight 10mph convoy system will be in place to ensure traffic can be escorted safely past the work area.

Commenting on the improvements, Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This £180,000 project for the A9 near Newtonmore will address any defects on this two plus one section of the route, improving safety for motorists.

“We’ve arranged for the scheme to be carried out overnight to limit the impact felt by road users, and our team will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible.

“We advise all road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking Traffic Scotland for up to date journey information.”
