£160,000 OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS FOR A90 NORTHBOUND LAURENCEKIRK

SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS ON THE A90 NORTHBOUND NEAR LAURENCEKIRK HAVE BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

 

Please be advised that the weekend surfacing improvements on the A90 northbound near Laurencekirk have been postponed until further notice.

The project was scheduled to begin on Friday 10 December and was planned to take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am over two nights, with all works scheduled to be completed by 6.30am on Monday 13 December. However, due to adverse weather impacting other schemes across the network, this project on the A90 has been postponed.

The traffic management outlined in the media release below will no longer take place.

All relevant stakeholders have been informed of the changes and will be update once new dates have been confirmed.

Works start Friday 10 December over two nights

 

Motorists using the A90 near Laurencekirk are to benefit from an improved road surface as surfacing improvements worth £160,000 are set to get underway from Friday 10 December at 7.30pm.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the northbound section of the A90 south of Laurencekirk between Luthermuir to Oatyhill, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Friday 10 December and will take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am over two nights, with all works scheduled to be completed by 6.30am on Monday 13 December. No works are programmed to take place on Saturday night.

To ensure safety for roadworkers as well as motorists throughout the works, there will be a lane closure on the northbound carriageway with a 10mph convoy system in place. All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “This £160,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“The traffic management planned for this project is essential for everyone’s safety however we’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the works overnight and removing the traffic management during the day.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”

All waste materials and spoil resulting from these road works will be re-cycled in accordance with Scottish Environment Project Agency (SEPA) policies and procedures.
