BEAR Scotland manage, maintain and improve a large part of Scotland’s Trunk Road Network, including over 2,500km of carriageway and around 3,000 structures through some of the most scenic parts of our country.

We are in a position to add to our Landscaping Team over the spring/summer period, these roles begin in April, ending in October.

We are looking for enthusiastic, team players who can join our existing Landscaping Team.  The role of the Landscape Operative is primarily to carry out landscape operations such as grass cutting, strimming and weed control throughout our network.  This role will involve travel throughout Scotland, with time spend working away from Perth due to remote locations.

A driving licence is preferred and beneficial for this role, although is not essential.

Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Preparation machinery and equipment for days work.
  • Day to day reporting of information where necessary.
  • Ensuring that they are working with the correct systems, i.e. Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Traffic Layouts, Environmental regulations, etc.
  • Carry out landscape operations such as grass cutting, strimming, weed control as instructed.
  • Any other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of Landscape works.
  • Basic knowledge of landscape operations and machinery.
  • Preferably hold a current driving licence.
  • Ability to develop skills within the department.
  • Ability to carry out basic reporting.
  • Good at working in a team and other departments in relation to works.
  • Good work ethic.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the requirement for Health and Safety rules and procedures.
  • Physically fit for working in sometimes arduous conditions.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Flexible to working practices.
  • Good planning and organisational skills
