A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join BEAR Scotlands SE team as a Street Lighting Operative.

The South East Trunk Road Unit spans 506km through some of the busiest sections of the country, from central Scotland to through the Scottish Borders. It includes routes such as the Edinburgh City Bypass, as well as a large section of the M8 connecting Edinburgh to Glasgow.

The Street Lighting Operative will report into the Electrical Supervisor.

Role includes:

  • Work safely and promote a safe environment for all operations
  • Ensure all operations are carried out to the highest standard
  • Produce accurate records of all projects carried out
  • Operating small plant and equipment used in highway maintenance

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • A courteous approach to colleagues and members of the public
  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding role in all weathers and unsociable hours
  • Previous experience of street lighting or highways maintenance would be an advantage
  • Good knowledge of health & safety procedures
  • Good knowledge of highways maintenance industry
  • Be able to work as part of a team.
  • Have good communication skills, able to communicate well with all stakeholders.
  • Qualifications preferred – HGV C + E, Traffic Management 12 D, CSCS, NPORS, NRSWA.
