A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join BEAR Scotlands NW team as an Asset Inspection Driver.

The North West Trunk Road Unit spans some 1,422km of trunk road through some of the most scenic parts of the country.  It also includes 1,501 bridges and structures, including the Kessock Bridge which carries the A9 north of Inverness and the A87 Skye Crossing.

The North West Unit covers a huge area of Scotland, from Thurso and Wick in the very north of the Highlands down to Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute, from Uig on Skye to Perth and Stirling in the central belt.

The Asset Inspection Driver, reporting to the Asset Manager, will assist in the contractual Safety Inspections, mainly assisting the Safety Inspector to complete the tasks effectivity and safely.

This is a full time role.

Role includes:

  • Assist in the weekly Safety Inspections and Safety Patrols.
  • Assist in carrying out minor repairs & cyclic maintenance where safe to do so.
  • Liaison with members of the public as required.
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment.
  • Other duties applicable to the post as directed from time to time by the Inspector/Asset Team Leader/Asset Manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to comply with relevant Health and Safety legislation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to assess risks.
  • Flexible attitude to working practices.
  • Capable of self management and self motivation.
  • Ability to cope with change.
  • A full approved UK driving licence.
