ROAD SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS AT A68 OXENFOORD JUNCTION

December 9, 2020

  • Overnight closure of B6372 on 14 December

Overnight roadworks are planned at the A68 Oxenfoord junction north of Pathhead on the night of Monday 14 December. The B6372 will be closed at this junction between 19:30 and 06:00 and traffic on the A68 will be controlled by temporary traffic lights.

These restrictions are to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to upgrade road signs and markings at this junction, with the aim of improving safety and driver awareness.

A diversion route for B6372 traffic will be signposted via Pathhead.

Access for residents and emergency services will be permitted when it is safe to pass the work site. Louder work processes will be completed during the early hours of the evening to maintain a low level of noise pollution and minimise disturbance.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We thank road users and the local community in advance for their understanding. Hopefully the long-term benefit of improved road safety gained from these improvements outweighs any disturbance caused.”
