NORTH EAST – WINTER AND STORMS ROUND-UP

March 28, 2022

Our Winter Team has been working tirelessly these past few months to keep trunk roads in the North East safe and manage them in a way that causes as little disruption as possible for the travelling public.

Faced with challenging and difficult weather conditions, with ice, rain and wind in abundance and the occasional snowstorms, our dedicated team and their fleet of winter maintenance vehicles have dealt with it all. Our team has responded quickly and efficiently to this inclement weather and has spread 14,700 tonnes of salt in cold weather, used 1,800 sandbags to combat wet conditions.

Since BEAR Scotland’s Winter Service began in the North East in October, the Met Office has issued 29 Weather Warnings and there have been seven named storms, with storms Arwen and Dudley having a devastating impact on the area. Our Landscaping team has cleared an estimated 150 trees during and after the storms, with more work still required!
