£10,000 ROAD MAINTENANCE PROJECT

 A84 Leny Feus

Project to begin from Wednesday 9 December for two days

  • Road closure in place for safety for duration of project

A road maintenance project on the A84 north of Callander is set to get underway from Wednesday.

The project will involve teams carrying out temporary repairs to a culvert near Leny Feus allowing the A84 at this location to remain safe whilst further investigations and detailed designed work can be carried out on a permanent solution early next year. Temporary traffic lights have been in place since the culvert was damaged and will be removed once the temporary repairs have been completed.

Works are scheduled to get underway from 9.30am on Wednesday 9 December and are expected to be completed by 7pm Thursday 10 December.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, a full road closure will be in place to facilitate the temporary repairs required. A signed diversion route will be in place via the A81 and A821, adding an additional 45 minutes to the journey for road users travelling between Doune and Lochearnhead.

This diversion will not apply to HGV’s travelling northbound and southbound on the A84, and these vehicles will be diverted via the M9, A9, A823, A822 and A85.

Access for local residents will be maintained during the works and emergency services will be able to pass through the area affected by the road closure at all times.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in accordance with Scottish Government COVID-19 guidance, will be implemented to protect operatives, such that they remain safe whilst works are being undertaken.

Commenting on the improvements, Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This road maintenance project will allow teams to carry out temporary repairs to an existing culvert, ensuring this section of the A84 continues to remain safe whilst we conduct further investigations and design a permanent solution.

“The road closure is essential to ensuring the safety of roadworkers and motorists; and our teams will do all they can to complete this project as quickly and safely as possible.

“We would like to thank the local community and travelling public for their patience in advance and also encourage them to plan their journeys ahead by checking Traffic Scotland for the most up to date journey information.”
